We’re looking for process improvers that can quickly pick up and contribute to the payroll function with minimal supervision and take pride in helping scale our company.

Payroll 
  • Responsible for preparing US bi-weekly/semi-monthly multi-state payrolls within ADP for both exempt and nonexempt employees, ensuring payroll is prepared accurately and timely
  • Responsible for preparing international monthly payrolls for Canada, France, UK, Ireland, Netherlands, Germany and Japan
  • Liaise with international payroll providers to ensure the accuracy, compliance, and timely processing of payroll and any annual payroll reporting
  • Monitor the payroll email inbox, ensuring that all inquiries, notices, etc. are timely and accurately resolved
  • Ensure compliance with US payroll taxes by addressing all US federal/state tax notices, ensuring payroll reporting is filed timely and liaising with ADP and/or tax authorities as needed
  • Provide an excellent employee experience as the first point of contact for all internal payroll inquiries, treating all employees with respect and maintaining a high level of trust in the payroll department
  • Support the accounting team in their month end close process by providing support for payroll-related cash transactions, payroll liability journal entries and responding to inquiries as necessary 
  • Collaborate closely with various teams within the People department (i.e., Benefits, People Operations, etc.), amicably working together to solve problems, resolve issues and collectively scaling and optimizing both departments
  • Design, build and implement processes to fill gaps that arise as we continue to grow our company in conjunction with our Accounting & People teams
  • Maintain necessary procedures and internal controls related to payroll accounting
  • Assist with implementing and maintaining payroll policies and procedures
  • Monitor and scan all incoming payroll mail at Headquarters at least weekly
  • Assist the payroll team with ad-hoc projects, including year-end payroll filings, audit requests, financial and tax reporting
  • Support payroll system implementation requirements, workflow design, user acceptance testing, training, go-live execution
Equity Administration
  • Record all equity award activity (grants, exercise, terminations, cancellations) within Carta for all locations
  • Monitor equity pool reserves, exercises and vesting events
  • Assist in responding to equity award related questions from employees 
  • Record stock transactions in payroll as needed ensuring income and taxes associated with employee equity activity (i.e., exercises, vesting) are properly recorded on W-2s and taxes are remitted timely to tax authorities
  • Partner with the People Team to ensure timely and accurate employee transactions and to provide ad hoc support
Requirements
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in similar position with experience and working knowledge of payroll and equity reporting required
  • Experience at either a late stage private or a public technology company preferred
  • Must have experience processing both US and international payroll
  • Experience using sophisticated Payroll & HRIS systems; ADP and Workday a significant plus
  • BA/BS degree required, Emphasis in Accounting or Finance a plus
  • Basic knowledge of ERP systems required; Netsuite experience preferred
  • Excellent skills in Microsoft Excel & collaborating within G-Suite
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, high level of ethics, and exercise utmost discretion
  • Ability to work amicably with others, through building trust and respect with other teams
  • Excellent problem solving/judgment skills, and high level of attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong communication and organizational skills, project management, and the ability to work under pressure
  • Ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks and meet all deadlines
United States Base Pay Range
$108,000$134,000 USD
